The Canadian Association for Responsible Artificial Intelligence in Medicine embraces and values the diversity of its team members and colleagues. We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment for all people regardless of their nationality/culture, profession, age/generation, family situation, and gender, as well as individual differences such as but not limited to ethnic origin, sexual orientation, belief, disability, or opinions provided that they are consistent with the values promoted by the European Union.
We are committed to providing a respectful, tolerant, and welcoming environment, and a culture that promotes the development of excellence in scientific research, human collaboration and the nurturing of scientific careers. In order to facilitate and promote the respect and adherence of such principles, the CARAM emphasizes the need to overlook and administer diversity matters.
CARAM and Horizon Europe: CARAM is aligned with the European Commission’s greater commitment to set up a Union of equality to make equality, diversity and inclusion a European reality. More particularly, the European Commission has committed itself to promote gender equality in research and innovation. A Gender Equality Strategy has been set up for 2020-2025 which sets it as a crosscutting priority for projects funded under the Horizon Europe and Horizon 2020 instruments.
CARAM in Canada:
Achieving a more equitable, diverse and inclusive Canadian research enterprise is essential to creating the excellent, innovative and impactful research necessary to advance knowledge and understanding, and to respond to local, national and global challenges.
With these goals in mind CARAM strives to:
- Promote the integration of equity, diversity and inclusion-related considerations in research design and practices
- Increase equitable and inclusive participation in the research system, including on research teams
- Collect data and conduct the analyses needed to include equity,
diversity and inclusion considerations in decision-making
Through these means the CARAM will work with those involved in the research system to develop the inclusive culture needed for research excellence and to achieve outcomes that are rigorous, relevant and accessible to diverse populations.
